Application Cap Corps Volunteer 2017-2018
Recommendation Form - SAMPLE.pdf
The staff of CYFM is committed to helping all Cap Corps Volunteer (CCV) applicants to discern what the right path for for their individual journey. For this reason, there are several steps in the application process.
Application deadline is May 31st or as space permits. Priority is given to applications received by March 1st.
The basic application process is as follows:
Initial contact via phone, email, Facebook, or college volunteer fair: firstname.lastname@example.org or (845) 424-3609.
Initial telephone conversation with a member of the CYFM staff.
Applicant completes and returns the application (see link above).
CYFM mails out reference forms for the applicant.
We schedule a visit & interview here at CYFM (usually during a retreat).
The CYFM staff and the CCV applicant prayerfully consider the experiences and information gained throughout the application process.
After we review the returned reference forms, if it is a good fit for everyone, we prayerful extend on invitation to join us for the following year.
The visit to CYFM during a retreat is a very important part of the application process. It gives our applicants a chance to see the retreat center, the retreat staff in action, the typical teens with whom we work, the Red House, where the CCVs live, etc. We encourage applicants to use this time to talk to the current CCVs and members of the community to find out the information that is important to them. The visit also gives us a chance to observe how the potential volunteer interacts with teens and team members while on a retreat. All of this, together, serves to help us us to determine if CYFM and the applicant are a good fit for each other.
