Manchester church revival attracts hundreds

MANCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE– 19 JULY 2010

There was a lot to take in for the man holding the religious material he just collected from one of the many booths spread around the grounds of Veterans Park on Sunday, yesterday's Greater Manchester Catholic Tent Revival.

Young children, some with their faces painted, ran around with balloons. The Guadalupana Music Group performed on center stage as scores of people danced below. People walked around eating ice cream with one hand and clutching free Bibles in the other.

A community evangelizer followed the musicians on stage and told the crowd not to be ashamed to call the Catholic Church their home. He asked everyone to say "Amen," and hundreds responded to his call.

The man watching, an older gentleman who lives in the neighborhood leaned on the railing that circles the park and looked on. He said it reminded him of the old-time tent revivals he saw as kid. Why was he there? "I'm just curious” he said. And that was just fine to the religious leaders who spent nearly six months putting together yesterday's "Got Hope?" event.                      Read more...
