HELP FOR HAITI

05/14/2010

Dear Friends of the Province,

As you are well aware, on January 12th a massive earthquake struck Haiti.  Though we are still not sure of the full extent of the damage, we do know that our Haitian brothers and sisters need our continued help.  There are five Capuchin Friars living in Haiti, and thankfully none of them were hurt in the earthquake.  Brother Demetrio De la Cruz Jinenez, Capuchin Vice-provincial of Haiti and Santo Domingo shared with us his experience that day while at the Haitian Bishops' Conference in Port au Prince.

The Province of St. Mary is partnering with the worldwide Economic Solidarity Fund for the Capuchin Order in Rome to provide assistance to those who are most in need.  We have already given $10,000 for the Fund for Haiti, and we are asking you to help us in this effort.  As always we thank you for your generosity.  Please join is in helping and praying for those who have been affected by this tragedy.  For more information, you can also visit www.crs.org or an interview with Archbishop Dolan from Catholic News Services.

Thank you, and May God bless you.

In His Name,

Fr. John Gallagher, O.F.M. Cap.
Provincial Minister
